Chicken Meatballs – 1 Weight Watchers Smartpoint Each

Well, hello my friends.. can we just talk about how fast the summer has gone.  I wished for cooler weather when it was hot and humid and here is it and it’s making me realize that another summer is gone and in the books. I don’t want to put a jacket on. I want to walk around town in my t-shirt still.  Ah, those are the days when you can dash out of your house without grabbing a jacket… right?

OK OK.. so not all is lost when you have some comfort food to make.. That’s why I’m here.. stay with me.

I’ve just uploaded a new video for making Chicken Meatballs.  I started getting into replacing all of my ground beef recipes with ground chicken. Not sure when that started, but it was years ago.  I don’t particularly like the taste of ground turkey (anyone with me on that), unless I mix with ground chicken or there are a lot of spices and other tastes in it.  I digress.

These meatballs, simmering in a sauce for hours is the key to comfort food, I think.  Of course, then my house smells like meatballs for two days. LOL

I got 28 meatballs from this recipe and each one is only 1 Weight Watchers Smartpoint each.  C’mon now.. it’s true.

You can, of course, change up your ingredients with different veggies, bread or cheese.. it’s your world.  I would highly recommend cooking the veggies first.. this is what gives them a sweet taste. Would you do that for me, please??

Ingredients:
1 lb ground chicken
1 lb chicken sausage taken out of the casings
1 slice reduced calorie bread made into crumbs
1/3 cup pecorino romano grated cheese
2 beaten eggs
for the sauted veggies: onions, red pepper, garlic, mushrooms, italian seasonings. You can change up these ingredients, as you wish.

Mixed Media Techniques on Blotter Paper

Hey friends, what’s going on today?  Well…..

… I thought I would take my under paper (blotter) on my art table and take it to the next level with more layers of paint.  I’ll show you how I use texture paste on art tissue paper and use those torn pieces as collage fodder. Finally, I show you how I put an image transfer on the piece.

Edgar Allen Poe Journal

Hey, everyone… This weekend is the end of July!!!  Can you believe it? Wasn’t it just May?

This weekend, I published a video on how to create of journal from a notebook.  I covered the back and front of the notebook, creating a personal journal, with layers and layers of paint and just did an overall mixed media frenzy on it.  After all the love/hate process and the stages it went through, I love the way it turned out.

I created this as a gift for my amazing niece, Christina, for her birthday.  She loves Edgar Allen Poe and she loves to write. So, I created this journal for her to enjoy and write in.

Sito’s Kitchen – “Itch”

Well, hello my friends and Happy Summer.

I sure hope you are all enjoying your weather wherever you are. We have had such a strange summer with lots of little thunderstorms and sunny, hot days.  It just feels good to leave the house without grabbing a jacket and walking in warm weather.  It doesn’t last long, so better enjoy it while we can, right?

Today, I am posting a video of Sito’s Kitchen with mom and I making a great dish called Itch (pronounced “eech”).  This simple dish is great alone, in a salad or as a scoop-able dip/appetizer.

As I write this, I realized you could replace the bulgar with quinoa.  Get creative, but the tomato paste is key here.  Take this to a party and you will be the talk of the town. LOL!!

New Online Class at Joggles – “Button n’bellishments”

I wanted to share with you some exciting news.

I will be teaching my first online glass in February at Joggles.  Joggles has many online classes along with many art supplies you can order. Seriously cool place to shop.

This will also be first ALL video based class to be held on Joggles.  Usually, all the classes are PDF driven, which are really nice too, but I thought that videos would be more fun and easier to follow, not to mention to get to see me in action or mess up.. kidding.

The class I’m teaching is called “Button n’bellishments“.  I’ve taught this class live before and  I had such a great time with all the students; they made some really cool B&Bs.  Now, I bring it to you online.  You can read the details below.

I’ve been working on this class since October and hope that everyone who signs up enjoys the many videos I have prepared.

This class is scheduled to begin on February 7, 2013.

Description:

14 mini-video lessons plus bonus video on how I decorate journal covers and my mixed media collages.

How would you like to make your own embellishments for your journals or any of your mixed media work? In this class, I will show you how to make beautiful, one of a kind, all your own, buttons and embellishments made from polymer clay – I call them “Button n’bellishments”.

This workshop is all video based with several mini-videos per lesson.

Lesson 1: 9 mini-videos.

You’ll begin my learning how to create your pieces by hand with polymer clay and baking them. Hearts, wings, buttons, flowers and faces.

Lesson 2: 5 mini-videos.

We will “antique” your embellishments to make them look vintage-like and then add a glaze to them to make them shine.

The final step will be to adorn your pieces with costume jewelry, old jewelry, fabric, lace, rhinestones and glitter. It’s your world; make them gorgeous! You can download these videos and keep them forever.

You’ll be able to communicate with with me via the Joggles forums for any questions, help or just to show us what you did.

Mixed Media Coffee Filter Collage Paper w/Video

I’ve had a few requests to show how I do some of my mixed media art.  Ask and you shall receive.

I filmed this about two weeks ago.  Then I had troubles with downloading/uploading, which software to use… yada yada yada.

Here is my first edited (poorly) video.  I decided to make a coffee filter collage piece to show you my process from start to finish.  No planning was done.. I just took out a stash of my “stuff” and see where it took me.

I don’t need to write much more here on the blog, as the video will give you all you need.  I used this same process using used dryer sheets or on a piece of fabric (I like muslin).

I hope you enjoy… and I apologize ahead of time for any hiccups in the editing (in addition to a whining dog, no not my husband.. ha ha).  I’m just getting the hang of this. I think little parts got cut out when I did the editing.  I can see that now.  But you get the idea here on adding layers and fun ephemera.

It’s 18 minutes long… so sit back and relax.  Silence all cell phones, as they say in the movie theaters.

Here are some closer still shots of the final piece.

So many uses… cut up your favorites parts and add to your journals and collages. Imagine this as a unique book cover with sewn pages.  Sew it on a canvas bag or add it to a quilt project.  It’s a pretty strong piece by the time you’re done with the layers of fabric, etc. and gel medium.
